AFC Bournemouth beat Brighton to go third
AFC Bournemouth moved up to third place in the Premier League table after a 2-1 victory over Brighton & Hove Albion at the Vitality Stadium today.
Alex Scott opened the scoring after 18 minutes with a powerful left-foot strike from 20 yards, his second goal in the top flight. Antoine Semenyo later secured the win from the penalty spot after new signing Evanilson was fouled by Jan Paul van Hecke.
Kaoru Mitoma had briefly levelled for Brighton early in the second half with a header at the far post, but Andoni Iraola’s side responded well to record a third successive league victory.
The match saw a full debut for summer signing Veljko Milosavljević, who impressed throughout and was named man of the match. Fellow newcomer Álex Jiménez made his first appearance from the bench in the second half.

The visitors lost Jack Hinshelwood to injury inside three minutes, while Brighton goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen was kept busy, denying Evanilson and Amine Adli. At the other end, Cherries keeper Đorđe Petrović made a strong first-half save to deny Yankuba Minteh.
Bournemouth’s defence stood firm in the closing stages, with Marcos Senesi and Justin Kluivert both making vital contributions to preserve the lead.
The win marks Bournemouth’s best ever start to a Premier League season after four matches, following earlier victories against Wolves and Tottenham Hotspur.
