More than £750,000 has now been raised for The BEACH Appeal at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital.
The total marks the halfway point in the £1.5 million fundraising campaign run by University Hospitals Dorset NHS Charity.
Money is being used to fund extras within the new BEACH Building, which houses Emergency, Critical Care and Maternity departments. These include a CT scanner in the Emergency Department, sensory equipment for children and ambient lighting to improve patient experiences.
To celebrate the milestone, eight members of the hospital’s executive board took part in a “Soak the Execs” cold water challenge on Tuesday 26 August. The event raised over £2,600.
Fundraising manager Jessica Tyler said reaching the halfway point was “a huge moment” and thanked staff and communities for their support. She added that more help is still needed to hit the final target.
Charity director Debbie Anderson said she was proud to join colleagues in the challenge and called on the public to continue supporting the appeal.
Donations are helping transform hospital spaces, with further projects planned ahead of the new Children’s ward opening in summer 2026.
