Parley Place hosts garden party raising funds for memorial hall

Parley Place care home in West Parley welcomed residents, families, staff and members of the community to a High Tea Garden Party to raise money for the West Parley Memorial Hall.

The event, held on 30 August, featured entertainment from Scott Free, known as Swingin Sinatra, and Daisy Lapworth, alongside stalls, refreshments, a raffle and a Poshest Dog Competition.

The contest was sponsored by Muttleys Doggy Daycare, with prizes awarded to the best dressed dogs as judged by Parley Place residents.

Local businesses including Lidl, Baskets and Bloom, Herbies and Tesco donated prizes for the raffle, which was well supported on the day.

Visitors enjoyed a selection of refreshments prepared by the catering team, from sandwiches and mini eclairs to scones with jam and cream.

Resident Liz said she enjoyed being surrounded by people and that the highlight was seeing dogs dressed in top hats, suits and tutus. Staff at the home said it was a pleasure to welcome so many people into the gardens and to see different generations enjoying time together.

General Manager Gina said staff worked hard to make sure the home continues to act as a hub for the community, and described the day as a success.

Parley Place is run by Barchester Healthcare and provides residential and dementia care for up to 68 residents, including both respite and long-term stays.
