International artist hosts free Bournemouth exhibition for local charity

An outdoor exhibition of international art will take place in Bournemouth this summer in support of Dorset Blind Association.

Artist Alexander Dakers will showcase his paintings at The Green House Hotel on Sunday 31 August, with the event running from midday until 6pm. The exhibition will be open to the public free of charge and will include live entertainment, refreshments, and an open garden setting.

Alexander has previously exhibited in Tokyo, New York, London and Glasgow, but has strong local links, having created a live painting at this year’s Dorset Blind Association Motor Show at Lulworth Castle.

Sam Baker, Community Relations Officer at Dorset Blind Association, said the charity was pleased to continue its partnership with the artist. He said the exhibition would bring together art and community while helping raise funds for local people living with sight loss.

Alexander Dakers said he was keen to build on the positive response he had received earlier in the year. He explained that donations and proceeds from art sales at the exhibition would be totalled at the end of the event, with a fundraising target set in support of Dorset Blind Association. He said he hoped many people would attend and help make a difference.

The Dorset Blind Association currently supports more than 1,000 people across the county who are living with sight loss. Its work includes running community clubs, offering advice, and providing social activities and outreach services designed to reduce isolation and help people remain independent.
