Bournemouth and Poole College students gain global skills in Seville

Eighteen students from Bournemouth and Poole College have completed a two-week international work experience trip to Seville, Spain, as part of the Turing Scheme.

The students, from the college’s Media and Esports courses, took part in creative placements at V-ART School, where they developed industry-standard skills using software such as Adobe Lightroom. Each student created a personal digital portfolio to document their progress and showcase their artistic development in a professional setting.

As well as work experience, the group took part in Spanish lessons and were responsible for budgeting, shopping and cooking while living independently for the fortnight. Many described it as a major step toward adulthood and future career readiness.

Students also explored Seville’s most iconic landmarks, including Seville Cathedral, the Real Alcázar, and Plaza de España. They took part in activities such as a photography scavenger hunt, an evening at Las Setas, and a day out at Guadalpark Water Park.

Evening activities like fajita nights, bowling and arcade games helped students strengthen friendships and build confidence. On the final night, a group awards event recognised personal growth, teamwork and individual contributions.

The trip gave Bournemouth and Poole College students the chance to apply their learning in an international environment while gaining life skills and new cultural perspectives.

Seville’s Plaza de España has featured in several films, including Star Wars and Lawrence of Arabia.
