Paddle board adventurer explores Dorset coastline entirely by bus

A world-record paddle boarder is aiming to explore Dorset’s coastline this summer without using a car — by travelling entirely by bus.

David Haze, who holds multiple stand-up paddleboarding records, has teamed up with Morebus to show how inflatable paddle boards can make travel easier and greener for local adventurers.

Based in Dorset, David plans to visit both well-known spots like Sandbanks and Bournemouth Pier, as well as quieter areas around Christchurch and Poole, by hopping on and off Morebus services.

He said the aim is to encourage others to consider how accessible coastal adventures can be without relying on a car, adding: “I want to highlight some of the lesser-known areas that are amazing for paddleboarding and show how simple it is to reach them with public transport.”

David will share his journeys on Instagram under the name @nomadicpaddler.

Morebus says the project is part of its ‘More Fun’ campaign encouraging people to use buses for leisure, not just commuting. Head of communications Nikki Honer said the Morebus app will help David plan his routes and track his carbon savings along the way.

Group tickets and Dayrider passes allow unlimited travel across the area, with the bus company promoting them as a cost-effective alternative to driving and parking.
