Stonewater, a major social housing provider, has welcomed increased government funding that will support the delivery of more affordable homes and sustainability improvements in Bournemouth.
The Affordable Homes Programme (AHP) is receiving further investment, which Stonewater says will help address the local housing crisis. The provider has already delivered homes across Bournemouth through the AHP and says the new funding will support future developments.
Nicholas Harris, Chief Executive at Stonewater, said: “Support for new housing must continue to give providers like us the ability to plan, invest in developments and deliver for communities.”
Stonewater also responded positively to signs that the Government remains committed to the Warm Homes Social Housing Fund. This fund has enabled the organisation to carry out retrofit projects across its existing properties in Bournemouth, improving energy efficiency and making homes more affordable to heat.
A Bournemouth resident who benefited from a retrofit project said: “I’ve just had a heat recovery system fitted. I am looking forward to a very warm home this winter.”
Mr Harris added that many families remain on housing waiting lists and that Stonewater is committed to making use of the latest announcements to meet the needs of the community.
He said: “Not having a stable place to call home can seriously affect a person’s prospects, well-being and overall happiness. Stonewater is in a strong position and is committed to continuing to deliver homes across Bournemouth for those most in need.”
