Bournemouth end best-ever Premier League away season with defeat

AFC Bournemouth wrapped up their most successful Premier League away campaign with a 3-1 loss at Manchester City.

Despite the defeat, Andoni Iraola’s team finished the season with their highest away points tally since joining the top flight in 2015.

Daniel Jebbison came off the bench to score his first Premier League goal for the Cherries in stoppage time after City had gone three goals up through Omar Marmoush, Bernardo Silva and Nico González.

Both sides had a player sent off during the second half, with Mateo Kovačić dismissed for a foul on Evanilson and Bournemouth captain Lewis Cook seeing red after a challenge on González.

The result confirmed Bournemouth’s impressive performance on the road this season, including away wins at Manchester United, Arsenal and Newcastle.

Across the campaign, the team earned 28 points away from home, scoring 35 goals and conceding only 30.

Justin Kluivert led the scoring charts for Bournemouth with ten of those goals, while the side recorded seven away wins and seven draws, with only five defeats.

The match saw several chances for the Cherries, including efforts from Kluivert, Tavernier and Evanilson, but City made the most of their opportunities.

The result did not change the narrative of a strong and consistent away season for the club, providing a solid foundation heading into the next campaign.
