Cherries record first Premier League win at Emirates Stadium

AFC Bournemouth beat Arsenal 2-1 at Emirates Stadium on Saturday to complete a first-ever Premier League double over the Gunners.

Declan Rice had put the hosts ahead in the 34th minute, finishing after being played in by Martin Ødegaard.

Despite the setback, Bournemouth responded strongly and had several chances either side of half-time, including efforts from Evanilson, Justin Kluivert and Dango Ouattara.

They found a way back into the game when Dean Huijsen glanced in a header from Antoine Semenyo’s long throw with 23 minutes left to play.

Evanilson, who was cleared to play following a successful appeal against a red card last weekend, scored the winner 15 minutes from time.

The Brazilian forward reacted quickest at the far post after Marcus Tavernier flicked on Alex Scott’s corner.

It was Bournemouth’s first win at the Emirates after seven previous defeats and secured their first ever league double over Arsenal, following a 2-1 home victory in October.

The win moved Andoni Iraola’s side back up to eighth place in the Premier League table with three matches left to play.

Their next fixture is at home to Aston Villa on Saturday 10 May.
