Late Manchester United goal denies AFC Bournemouth victory at Vitality Stadium

AFC Bournemouth were held to a 1-1 draw by Manchester United at the Vitality Stadium today after a dramatic late equaliser.

The Cherries took the lead in the first half when Antoine Semenyo finished a slick move with a powerful strike.

Andoni Iraola’s side continued to create chances either side of half-time and looked the more dangerous team.

The game changed when AFC Bournemouth were reduced to ten men, with Evanilson shown a straight red card following a VAR review midway through the second half.

Despite strong defensive work, Manchester United equalised in the 96th minute through Rasmus Højlund from close range.

Speaking after the match, Iraola said the players had shown “great character” but that “small moments can change games at this level.”

The point leaves AFC Bournemouth in tenth place in the Premier League table with 50 points, with four matches remaining this season.

The Cherries’ focus now turns to the final run of games, aiming to finish the season strongly.
