Trees down and roads blocked as Storm Darragh causes issues around Dorset

Live updates: Bournemouth, Christchurch, Poole and east Dorset are seeing disruption due to Storm Darragh with trees down and roads blocked around the area.

This is an updating story with the latest information.

  • Power cuts reported in BH11 (Bear Cross), BH21 (Horton), and BH31 (Verwood) areas – back by 10pm
  • Tree down at the top of Gravel Hill at its junction with Oakley Hill near Merley Roundabout
  • Bournemouth Road blocked at Ashley Cross
  • Tree down on Dean Park Road, crushing a car and blocking the road
  • Tree down on Holt Road at Holt Heath near Cross Keys Inn partially blocking the road on a bend
  • Trains running slow due to a tree on the line between Brockenhurst and Southampton
  • A tree blocking the railway between Poole and Wareham all lines are blocked
  • Waste and Recycling centres closed in Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole
  • Dorset Police report seven trees blocking roads reported in a 30 minute period this morning
  • A new weather warning in place for strong winds and heavy rain till Sunday morning
  • Only report trees blocking roads to the Police if there is an immediate risk to life such as on a bend or on a road with a 40 mph limit or above
