Flooding and fallen trees affecting east Dorset with wet and windy weather from Storm Bert

Trees are blocking roads and flooding is affecting our area today as Storm Bert enters its second day.

A flood warning is in place covering the coast across Bournemouth, Christchurch, Poole and Studland until the end of the day.

Winds are forecast up to 54mph in Poole, 53mph in Bournemouth and Christchurch. Power cuts have also been reported in Ferndown and other parts of east Dorset.

Many attractions are expected to be closed today for safety reasons, including Kingston Lacy, which has announced it is closed due to high winds.

On the trains, services between Exeter St Davids and London Waterloo will start and finish their journey at Basingstoke, and journey times will be longer between Salisbury and Exeter and between Bournemouth and Weymouth due to speed restrictions.

The company says: “If you intend to travel on our network, please check before you travel using journey planners, which will be updated throughout the weekend.”
