A 20-year-old man from Poole was arrested after a stolen car collided with another vehicle in Alder Crescent.
The police helicopter joined the search for the car after it was reported stolen in Poole town centre at around quarter past six last night.
It failed to stop for officers.
There are no reports of anyone being injured.
The man detained remains in police custody and enquiries are continuing.
