Castlepoint is introducing £1 coin mechanisms into their trolleys to reduce the amount which end up abandoned.
The shopping centre has teamed up with Dorset Mind to announce the move, which will see 2,000 Mind-branded trolley tokens being made available to shoppers without a coin, and a donation made to the charity.
You can get a free Mind-branded token from the Castlepoint pod located outside M&S at various points over the course of the week until all tokens have been collected, with timings being shared via the Castlepoint social media channels.
In addition, an ‘Open Summer Garden’ has launched at Castlepoint today for shoppers to enjoy over the warmer months.
From 27th June to 15th September, a 32-metre landscaped area in the lower car park, close to the downstairs entrance to M&S, will be transformed into a ‘Summer Garden’ which will hosting a wide variety of sports and music festivals on a 3.5 metre LED screen.
Events on the big screen include the major Wimbledon games, the Euros, Tour De France, Reading Festival and much more.
David Pickett, Centre Manager of Castlepoint said: “We are proud to continue supporting Dorset Mind with the roll out of our free Mind-branded trolley tokens, which should make a positive difference for shoppers, boosting trolley availability and enhancing the appearance of Castlepoint and the surrounding areas.
“After seeing so many shoppers enjoying the Chatty Benches and wellness initiatives during Mental Health Awareness Week, it felt the right thing to keep togetherness at the heart of the Castlepoint experience; we can’t wait to see our shoppers enjoying our new Open Summer Garden, which kicks off from Thursday 27 June.”
