In a tribute, his family said: “We are devastated to lose Nick in such a tragic way.

“He was taken too early and we are heartbroken.

“Despite being 78, he was working as a lawyer, took four dog walks a day and, just as always, was still doing things for others.

“Nick was a lifelong contributor to his local community.

“Over the decades, and alongside his wife, he helped at a local Cubs group, ran a youth club, was a school governor and ran both youth and adult football clubs.

“He repeatedly changed people’s lives for the better.

“Throughout his life Nick was best known for being kind and thoughtful.

“His family and friends ask for the same consideration and request their privacy be respected at this time.”
