The leader of the Liberal Democrats Sir Ed Davey dropped into Wareham yesterday to toast the success of the party on Thursday’s election, to become the leaders for Dorset County Council.
He told Bournemouth One that it was a fantastic night for the Liberal Democrats who did better than what they thought they would, and even what the pundits said they would do.
Vikki Slade who’s the Lib Dem council leader for Bournemouth Poole and Christchurch, said now they have this in the bag they’ve got a big campaign ahead of them, whether it is 6 weeks or 6 months as the party works towards a general election.
Dorset Councillor Nick Ireland added, “I’m very happy, we’re here to serve the residents of Dorset and now we’ve got the opportunity to do so. The first thing we’re going to do is look at the car parking charges which have been ramped up and need to bring them back down again as they’re having an impact on businesses which is not right”.
