Officer injured and Lower Gardens partially closed following incident in Bournemouth

The Lower Gardens has been partially cordoned off and an emergency worker has been injured following an incident in Bournemouth.

Dorset Police received a report at 6.31pm on Monday 29 April 2024 of an assault. It was reported that two men were assaulted with a glass bottle causing serious facial injuries. They have been taken to hospital for treatment.

Officers attended and a 23-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent and assault by beating.

During the incident, a police officer sustained an injury to their hand and the man was also arrested on suspicion of assault by beating of an emergency worker.

A cordon has been put in place at the scene to allow a detailed investigation into the incident to be carried out. There will be an increased policing presence in the area and officers can be approached by anyone with information or concerns.

No road closures are in place but multiple Police officers remain in the area.
