The A338 Wessex Way was closed in both directions on Monday morning around Lansdowne Road in Bournemouth.
Officers have been responding to a concern for welfare incident and are urging motorists to avoid the area between Richmond Hill and St Pauls if possible.
Update 7.15am – the southbound carriageway has now reopened but northbound remains closed.
Update 7.38am – the road is now reopen in both directions.
