Trees down in Verwood due to Storm Ciara

Verwood has seen its share of damage from Storm Ciara over the weekend including a number of trees falling over.

Two have been blown over in a garden in Margards Lane, blocking the footpath and part of the road, whilst a tree in the Verwood Day Nursery garden has fallen.

On Monday afternoon, a tree also fell over in Potters Wheel Car Park in the centre of town causing damage to a wall.

Roads are full of leaves and branches in some places, and residents have experienced fences being blown over too.

Power was also out for properties in Three Legged Cross after a tree fell over on a power line on Sunday, and the hard shoulder and lane one is currently blocked on the M27 westbound near junction 1 by a fallen tree.

Local roads around the area are also blocked – reports of trees crossing lanes around Alderholt, Cranbourne and Fordingbridge have also appeared online.

Winds up to 70mph were reported around Dorset and more trees came down including in Sandbanks, Sturminster Newton and Charminster.
