Police halt traffic on a Verwood road to rescue loose dog

A road in Verwood was closed temporarily on Wednesday evening after a rescue operation for a dog took place.

Eyewitnesses say a Police helicopter, as well as an Ambulance, attended the incident, which caused slight disruption to commuters whilst the hound was found.

Traffic was stopped by police on the B3081 Station Road between the Albion Inn and West Farm just before 5pm but was reopened shortly afterwards.

A spokesperson for East Dorset Police told VerwoodToday: “There was a loose dog in the road which brought traffic to a standstill whilst officers tried to capture it.”

The dog was reunited with its owner after the operation.
