Urban Reef has joined the Boathouse Group as its latest coastal venue, alongside three others.
The business now sits alongside The Boathouse, SOBO Beach and Beach House Cafe, with the new owners saying the familiar terrace, coastal setting and established team will remain central to the venue.
Founder and owner Kim Slater said the group was “not here to change what makes it special”, adding that it wanted to support Urban Reef and help it develop during the coming year.
The menu has been refreshed around fresh produce from local suppliers, introducing small plates, chicken and seafood dishes, lobster, wood fired pizzas and desserts, with food available inside or to take onto the beach.
Live acoustic music will continue on Sunday afternoons, while DJs will perform on alternating Saturday evenings throughout the summer as the group develops its plans for food, service and the venue’s atmosphere.
An Urban Reef spokesperson said the aim was for longstanding customers and first time visitors to receive “good food, great service” in surroundings that remain lively but welcoming on every visit.
