Families in Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole are being invited to take part in water safety and self-rescue sessions at Rossmore Leisure Centre this August.
The Beachwise initiative, working with the RNLI and supported by BCP Leisure, aims to equip people of all ages with practical skills to stay safe in and around water.
Beachwise has already educated more than twelve thousand children across the region this year and is now expanding its sessions to include whole families.
The interactive workshops focus on self-rescue techniques, recognising risks and responding to emergencies, helping parents and children gain confidence together.
Jonathan Kane, founder of Beachwise, said that teaching these skills is essential to saving lives and that the sessions are designed to empower families.
Councillor Richard Herrett, BCP Council’s Portfolio Holder for Destination, Leisure and Commercial Operations, said the council is proud to support Beachwise and encourages families to take part.
The RNLI has partnered with Beachwise this summer to deliver water safety education, highlighting the importance of practising life-saving skills such as Float to Live.
Sessions run on selected dates throughout August at Rossmore Leisure Centre. To reserve a place, families can contact the centre’s reception by phone.
