Music, art and community activities will fill Boscombe High Street this August bank holiday weekend.
Increase the Peace Festival returns on Sunday 30 August, bringing local residents, artists, volunteers and independent businesses together for a programme which aims to “celebrate diversity” and strengthen connections across the community.
The music lineup includes Freefall Collective, playing its first live show in 10 years, alongside The Undercover Hippy, The Midnight Alliance, The Hush Club, Suna Alan, TUTO Tribe, Mischa and The Merry Many and Kitty Stewart.
Workshops will cover comic making, creative writing, African drumming, yoga, textile crafts and street art, including an 8 hour collaborative Wall of Peace, while theatre performances and the Human Library will explore identity, recovery, belonging and shared experiences.
Children’s activities include face painting, storytelling, dance, bubbles, craft stations, skateboarding, poetry and DJ sessions, with market stalls, local makers, charity stands and international food vendors also joining the event across the high street.
Money raised will support charities working with refugees, recovery communities, young people’s mental health, food growing and resilience projects, with organisers describing compassion, creativity and human connection as central to the festival.
