A major maintenance programme is set to take place on Dorset Way, one of Poole’s busiest roads, to help prevent potholes and keep the route in good condition for years to come.
Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Council will carry out repairs and surface dressing along 8.5 kilometres of the A3049 Dorset Way, between Holes Bay North roundabout and Mannings Heath roundabout.
The project will be delivered in three phases, with preparation works overnight and key phases scheduled over weekends to minimise disruption. No daytime works are planned once the summer holiday period begins.
The maintenance will include patch repairs, surface dressing to protect the road from weather damage, and replacement of road markings.
Temporary road and lane closures, as well as a 20mph speed limit, will be in place during certain phases.
The three roundabouts within the scheme area will not be included in the surface dressing programme.
Councillor Andy Hadley said the investment is intended to avoid more significant problems in the future and reduce the need for major resurfacing, which would cause greater disruption and cost.
