A man and woman were robbed by a knife-wielding suspect while walking towards Meyrick Park rugby pitch under the red brick railway bridge in Bournemouth.
The incident happened at around 2.20pm when an unknown man approached the pair, demanded money and jewellery, and left with a £20 note, a watch, earrings and a ring before escaping into a nearby wooded area.
The suspect is described as about five feet 11 inches tall, of skinny build with a very skinny face, aged in his mid-30s with olive skin.
He was wearing a long-sleeved black T-shirt, black cargo-style trousers tied at the bottom, black trousers, a black face covering and a black bandana.
Police Constable Ollie Chant of Dorset Police said the incident was very distressing for the victims and confirmed a full investigation is underway.
Officers searched the area at the time but did not locate the offender.
Police are urging anyone who was in the area and saw what happened to come forward with information.
