MrQ beach towels mark AFC Cherries deal

MrQ has used Bournemouth Beach to launch its new sleeve partnership with AFC Bournemouth.

Hundreds of red, black and blue towels were placed on the sand under a “Reserved for MrQ” banner, marking the online casino brand’s arrival as the club’s Official Sleeve Partner.

The activation was held ahead of the new Premier League season and was filmed by drone, timelapse and behind the scenes video, with content shared across MrQ, AFC Bournemouth and partner channels.

Jim Frevola, President of Business at AFC Bournemouth, said the club was “delighted” to celebrate the partnership on the beach and described the launch as “a very special activation”.

Rob Mitchell, Commercial Director, said the beach event was something the club was “very proud” to work on, adding that the relationship had started well after engagement along the seafront.

Adam Ryan, CCMO at MrQ, said becoming sleeve partner of the club was “a huge moment” for the brand.

Reaction from supporters online has been mixed, with several comments raising concerns about gambling sponsorship and others questioning how the logo will look on the kit.

One supporter asked whether gambling sponsors were banned, while another said: “Just because we can, doesn’t mean we should.”

Others focused on the design, with comments including “Blue on a Bournemouth kit” and “Please don’t ruin the new kit with their logo in blue.”
