Two outdoor Proms concerts will return to Bournemouth’s Meyrick Park on 7 and 8 August.
Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra will stage 2 open-air evenings, beginning with Now That’s What I Call Symphonic Music on Friday 7 August, featuring classical pieces and well-known film scores alongside picnics and fireworks.
The programme includes music from Star Wars, E.T., The Lord of the Rings and Interstellar, as well as works by Stravinsky, Mussorgsky, Vaughan Williams, Rachmaninov and Johann Strauss.
Saturday 8 August will bring Symphonic Smash Hits the 90s, with orchestral versions of songs associated with Robbie Williams, Cher, the Spice Girls and other artists from the decade.
The annual outdoor weekend is sponsored by Lester Aldridge Solicitors and supported by BCP Council, with 2 separate themes planned across the concerts.
BSO chief executive Dougie Scarfe said the events show the “superb versatility” of the orchestra’s musicians, while providing an opportunity for them to “let their hair down”.
Kurt Lee from Lester Aldridge said the concerts give families and friends a chance to come together and enjoy music in a relaxed setting.
