Mother says family faces homelessness

Mother says family faces homelessness

A mother living in temporary accommodation says she and her 15-year-old daughter face homelessness after declining an offer from BCP Council.

Erica Davidson says she was offered a top-floor flat but felt it was unsuitable because of health issues and recent surgery, which make stairs difficult.

She says she has been living in temporary accommodation for almost four years and has previously moved between hotels, B&Bs and hostel accommodation.

Ms Davidson says the uncertainty has affected her family and her daughter.

BCP Council says it takes homelessness concerns very seriously and carefully considers each household’s needs before making offers of accommodation.

Councillor Kieron Wilson said if an offer is refused, the council reviews the reasons in line with its legal duties and continues to offer support and advice.
