Ray Dorset, the driving force behind Mungo Jerry, has shared that he was recently taken to A&E at Bournemouth hospital following surgery.
In a light-hearted social media post, he said he overheard nurses humming the band’s famous hit In the Summertime while he waited for an ultrasound scan.
Dorset said the moment made him realise he had been recognised by hospital staff.
He thanked NHS staff for their care during his hospital visit.
Mungo Jerry’s In the Summertime became a global hit and has sold more than 30 million copies worldwide.
Fans have since sent messages wishing Dorset a speedy recovery.
