Witness appeal after e-scooter incident

Dorset Police is investigating reported offences involving a Beryl e-scooter rider on Saturday 6 June.

An officer at Branksome Chine reportedly saw an e-scooter carrying two people along the promenade at around 7pm. Police say the rider appeared to be carrying alcohol and shouted at the officer as they passed.

Around 20 minutes later, officers in Sandbanks Road saw what is believed to be the same e-scooter, with its occupants reportedly shouting and gesturing at officers and members of the public.

Police say one person ran off when officers attempted to stop the vehicle, while the rider, a 35-year-old man, was detained nearby.

He was later de-arrested and is assisting officers with their enquiries.

Anyone who witnessed anti-social behaviour involving an e-scooter in the seafront area around the time of the incident is being asked to contact police, quoting incident number 55260083893.
