Poole incinerator scheme inquiry to begin

A public inquiry has got underway into plans for an Energy from Waste facility at Canford Resource Park near Wimborne.

MVV Environment Limited wants to demolish existing structures and build a facility capable of processing 260,000 tonnes of non-recyclable, non-hazardous waste each year.

The scheme was refused by BCP Council’s planning committee on June 12, 2025, after councillors voted against it.

The proposal attracted 469 objections, with concerns including health, traffic, visual impact, the environment, Green Belt and proximity to homes and schools.

Supporters argued the facility would reduce the distance waste has to travel and generate electricity for nearby businesses.

The plans include a 110-metre chimney stack and would create 32 full-time jobs.

The inquiry will be held at BCP Council’s Civic Centre in Bournemouth and is expected to run until June 25.
