A new indoor padel tennis facility is being proposed for an empty industrial unit in Bournemouth.
Padel-On wants to convert Unit 1 at Bankes Heath Industrial Park, just off Wallisdown Road, into a club with 6 double courts and 2 single courts for players.
The plans also include a café, lounge and pro shop, which planning documents say would be “ancillary to the main padel use” and would support customers using the facility.
The proposed development would provide space for community and wellbeing activities, including local leagues, coaching, junior sessions, women’s sessions, school partnerships and student sport.
Documents also refer to NHS and corporate wellbeing sessions, along with wider community participation programmes, as part of the planned use for the site.
Parking would be provided on the existing forecourt, with 40 car spaces, including disabled bays, as well as cycle stands for people travelling by bike.
An extra yard area could also be used for more parking if needed, alongside additional cycle spaces.
The proposal is now under consideration through planning application P/26/02403/FUL, with comments open until June 26.
