Dorset invests in new gully cleaner

Dorset Council has introduced a new gully cleaner as part of investment to improve flood resilience across the county.

The tanker will be used to empty roadside gullies, clean drainage pipes and identify damage needing further repair.

The council says the vehicle forms part of a £5.2 million investment following last winter’s flooding.

There are more than 90,000 gullies across Dorset, with maintenance carried out year-round to help keep roads clear of surface water.

The council says the extra resource will allow teams to be more proactive, particularly in areas badly affected by flooding last winter.
