A property fire in Poole prompted a major emergency response and road closure on Wednesday evening.
Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service said it received a call at 7:50pm on 6 May reporting smoke coming from a property on Waterloo Road, with multiple crews sent to the scene as firefighters began tackling the incident.
Fire engines from Poole, Westbourne, Hamworthy, Wimborne, Ferndown and Wareham attended, supported by an aerial ladder platform from Westbourne and a command support unit from Hamworthy as crews worked to bring the situation under control.
At the height of the response, four breathing apparatus wearers were deployed using 2 main lines, a hose reel and a triple extension ladder to fight the fire, with a coordinated effort from teams on the ground.
The road remained closed into the night whilst emergency services continue their work, with police also in attendance, and drivers advised to avoid the area to allow access for crews and minimise disruption.
Residents living nearby have been asked to keep windows and doors closed as a precaution while the incident is dealt with, with further updates expected once the scene is made safe.
