Bournemouth Airport celebrates record year

Bournemouth Airport has recorded its busiest year on record, with passenger numbers rising by 26 per cent.

Nearly 1.4 million people travelled through the airport in the year to March 2026 – an increase of more than 289,000 compared to the previous year.

Airport bosses say the growth has been driven by the first full year of operations from Jet2.com and Jet2holidays, alongside continued services from Ryanair and TUI.

The airport’s cargo division also saw record activity, handling more than 37,000 tonnes of freight.

Significant investment has been made in facilities, including a new arrivals hall, expanded parking and upgraded baggage systems.

Looking ahead, airlines are increasing routes and capacity for the summer season, with more destinations available for travellers.

Airport leaders say they expect another busy year as more people choose to fly from their local airport.
