New Southbourne soap shop helps homeless

A new community-focused shop has opened in Southbourne with a mission to support people facing hardship.

Hope Soap, run by Hope HTS, has launched its first dedicated store on Seamoor Road.

The shop sells handmade soaps, candles and gift sets, with a “buy one, give one” model that donates a bar of soap to local foodbanks for every purchase made.

Manager Caroline Connell said the initiative has already supported thousands of people, with the wider charity helping more than 2,800 individuals move from homelessness into safe accommodation.

Recent donations have included dozens of soap bars to Bournemouth Foodbank, helping those without access to basic hygiene facilities.

The products are made using natural, sustainable ingredients, and the project also provides volunteering and skills opportunities for people supported by the charity.

Organisers say the aim is not just to raise funds, but to provide dignity and care to those who need it most.
