£1.8m leisure centre extension planned

A £1.8 million extension has been proposed for Two Riversmeet Leisure Centre in Christchurch.

The application has been submitted by BCP Council, following approval earlier this year to borrow funding for the project.

The leisure centre already includes swimming pools, a gym, sports pitches and squash courts, but currently lacks dedicated studio space.

Under the plans, a two-storey extension would be built at the rear of the site, creating two new studios capable of hosting up to 40 people each.

This would allow for more fitness classes and community activities, which are currently held in multi-use areas like squash courts and the sports hall.

Parking provision would remain unchanged, although eight additional cycle spaces are proposed.

The plans are open for public consultation until mid-May, with a decision expected after that period.
