A new free festival is coming to Fisherman’s Walk in Southbourne on 16 May.
Southbourne Food and Fun Fest will bring together food, wellbeing, sustainability and community activities in one family-friendly event, with live cooking demonstrations, grow your own workshops, health sessions, children’s entertainment and meet the makers events with local producers.
Organised by Stir Events CIC in partnership with Rotary, it is described as the first event of its kind to showcase Rotary’s Seven Areas of Focus, including health, education, environmental sustainability and community development, while also putting a spotlight on Dorset food and drink businesses.
The event will include producers such as Conker Spirit, alongside local artisans and independent businesses, with senior Rotary representatives including the District Governor also due to attend and underline the role of volunteering, partnership and local action in building stronger communities.
Mandy Jane Polkey said the festival has “a real purpose” and is about learning how to “grow, cook, share and live well”, while Richard Burnett said it will bring Rotary’s work “into the heart of the community”.
