£700k investment in Bournemouth Pier as toll suspension continues

More than £700,000 is being invested in Bournemouth Pier by Adventure Attractions Ltd, with the company confirming the suspension of the pier toll will continue indefinitely.

Adventure Attractions, which operates the pier’s attractions, said the investment reflects its commitment to keeping the landmark vibrant, accessible and attractive to visitors.

The toll suspension, introduced in partnership with BCP Council, has led to increased footfall since it was first introduced.

Sarah Hunter, managing director of Adventure Attractions, said: “Increasing accessibility to the pier has always been our ambition, and the response over the past year has been incredibly positive. Continuing the toll suspension allows us to build on that momentum and ensure the pier remains a place everyone can enjoy, all year round.”

She added that the company was investing more than £700,000 in removing the toll, describing it as a “huge investment and risk” but one that had been encouraged by increased visitor numbers and support for businesses on the pier.

Amanda Barrie, director of commercial operations at BCP Council, said: “Bournemouth Pier is one of our most loved landmarks and keeping it open and accessible benefits both residents and visitors alike.

“We are pleased to work with Adventure Attractions to allow residents and visitors to enjoy the pier toll free which helps encourage footfall, supports tourism, and strengthens the local economy.”

Visitors will continue to be able to access attractions including RockReef, PierZip and the Key West restaurant, alongside pop-up stalls and activities throughout the year.
