Community grants help thousands in BCP

Community groups across Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole have supported thousands of residents through a grant programme.

Up to 80 voluntary and community sector organisations have taken part since the BCP Food and Energy Support Fund launched in December 2021.

Supported by BCP Council and managed by Dorset Community Foundation, the fund has helped groups provide warm spaces, meals, energy saving advice and financial guidance to residents.

The impact of the programme was highlighted at a Stories of Change event where charities, volunteers and community organisations shared experiences of supporting people through difficult times.

Councillor Millie Earl said the work demonstrates how dedicated community groups and volunteers have made a real difference to people’s lives across the three towns.

Councillor Sandra Moore said the stories behind the projects show how grants have supported families and individuals facing hardship.

The council says support for community projects will continue through a new government backed Crisis and Resilience Fund starting from 1 April 2026.
