Broadstone residents urged to vote in poll

Residents in Broadstone are being encouraged to take part in elections for the town’s new council.

Voting will take place on 7 May after BCP Council approved plans in October 2025 to establish new town councils in Bournemouth, Poole and Broadstone.

Broadstone councillor Peter Sidaway said the election is an important moment and described it as “a genuine opportunity to shape the future of Broadstone”.

He said the council will allow money raised locally to be invested in community projects that benefit residents and strengthen the area.

Examples suggested include a new play park in Springdale, a community bus, a multi use games area, a skate park and additional planting and trees.

Councillor Sidaway also highlighted support for local events such as the Christmas lights, Broadstone Fun Day and Rock on the Rec.

He said councillors on the town council would not receive payment, adding the authority would instead employ a salaried town clerk to manage operations.

Residents will receive information about candidates in the coming weeks ahead of the May election.
