Three BCP areas chosen for pride funding
Three neighbourhoods in Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole have been selected for a government pride programme.
West Howe, Boscombe West and Hamworthy West are among 40 additional neighbourhoods across the country chosen for the pride in place initiative, aimed at revitalising high streets, improving public spaces and supporting community led ideas.
Over the next 10 years the programme is expected to back projects suggested by residents, including saving youth centres, repairing playgrounds, bringing empty buildings back into community use and expanding affordable after school activities.
Councillor Millie Earl, leader of BCP Council, said the investment in the three areas is good news for communities and follows repeated calls highlighting that Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole have often been overlooked for national funding.
The council says it will continue urging government to provide sustainable funding for essential services, adding that residents will help shape improvements because no one understands our towns better than the people who live and work in them.
