Prince William visits Bournemouth project

A royal visit is highlighting efforts to prevent youth homelessness across Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole.

The Prince of Wales is in Bournemouth today as part of the Royal Foundation’s Homewards programme, which is being trialled locally to develop new ways of tackling homelessness before it reaches crisis point.

Prince William is meeting international delegates and local leaders at Bournemouth Pier, before heading to the Bourne Academy to learn more about projects focused on early intervention and support for young people at risk.

The visit will showcase work taking place across the area to prevent homelessness, with partners working together to identify challenges earlier and provide targeted support to young people before their situation escalates.

The Homewards programme aims to create long term solutions by bringing together organisations and communities, with Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole selected as one of the areas helping to shape how the approach is developed and delivered.
