Skydiver died after parachute failed to deploy

An inquest has opened into the death of a skydiving instructor from Poole.

Charles John McNeil, aged 49, died following an incident at Dunkeswell Aerodrome in Devon on 28 February during a skydiving jump.

At the opening hearing, the coroner said the parachute involved in the incident failed to deploy while Mr McNeil was carrying out the jump.

The coroner adjourned the hearing while further investigations are carried out.

A full inquest hearing is expected to take place at a later date once enquiries into the incident have been completed.
