Students tour Poole bus depot operations

Students from a specialist education centre visited a bus depot in Poole for a tour.

A group from South West Regional Assessment Centre in Wimborne took part in a visit to the Morebus depot while studying transport as a topic, giving young adults aged 16 to 30 an opportunity to see how a local bus operation works.

During the visit, the students met the training and recruitment team and spoke with a driver trainer to learn what is required before someone is ready to drive buses carrying passengers across the region.

They were also shown the control room where supervisors monitor and regulate bus services, visited the drivers’ rest area to speak with staff, and toured the engineering workshop to find out more about vehicle servicing and MOT checks.

Morebus service delivery manager Luke Williams said he had “great pleasure in showing the group the inner workings of our bus operation” and added it was a pleasure hosting the students during their visit.

Hannah Jones from SWRAC said the tour gave students “a real insight into how a bus company works”, adding they enjoyed their time in Poole and were excited after the experience.
