Poole police appeal after cyclist seriously injured

Police are appealing for witnesses after a cyclist was seriously injured in a collision in Poole.

The incident happened at around 4.50pm on Thursday 26 February 2026 in Blandford Road, near the junction with Norton Way, and involved a black Volkswagen Golf and a bicycle. Emergency services attended and the cyclist, a man in his 60s, was taken to hospital with injuries believed to be serious but not life changing or life threatening.

Police Constable Mike Wells, of the Roads Policing Team, said officers are continuing to investigate the circumstances and are keen to speak to any witnesses or anyone with relevant dashcam footage who has not yet contacted police.

He said enquiries suggest a man wearing a navy jacket, dark trousers, a baseball cap and rucksack and carrying a white shopping bag was approaching the Carters Quay bus stop at the time. A delivery rider on a moped was also in the area and may be able to assist.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Dorset Police, quoting occurrence number 55260028240.
