Dorset businesses showcased in Parliament

Dorset’s food, drink and heritage were showcased in Westminster during a dedicated Dorset Day event in Parliament this week.

Vikki Slade, MP for Mid Dorset and North Poole, and Edward Morello, MP for West Dorset, co hosted the event in the Jubilee Room, bringing together local producers, community representatives and parliamentarians to highlight the county’s culture, enterprise and rural economy.

Guests were able to meet Dorset food, drink and coffee producers, sample their products and hear directly about the opportunities and challenges facing businesses across the county, while the Mayor of Wimborne and the Wimborne Militia travelled to London to reflect Dorset’s history alongside its modern enterprises.

The event attracted interest from MPs and peers including Anna Sabine, Caroline Nokes MP and Lord Knight of Weymouth, helping to raise the profile of Dorset businesses and ensure the county’s voice is represented at a national level.

Vikki Slade said Dorset “truly shone in Westminster” and described the event as a step towards keeping businesses and communities on the national agenda, while Edward Morello said he was grateful to producers who travelled to Parliament to promote local products and support high streets across the county.
