18-year-old dies in crash near Wareham

An 18-year-old has died following a crash near Wareham.

Emergency services were called at 8.42pm on Wednesday 18 February 2026 after a black Volvo V70 was involved in a single vehicle collision on Morden Road, and the male passenger was pronounced dead at the scene while his family was informed.

The driver, a man in his 20s, and a male teenage passenger sustained serious injuries and were taken to hospital for treatment as road closures were introduced to allow emergency crews to respond safely and examine the area.

Police Sergeant Josh Alner, of the Roads Policing Team at Dorset Police, said officers are carrying out a detailed investigation to establish the full circumstances and urged witnesses or anyone with relevant dashcam footage to come forward.

He added that his thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who died and thanked the public for their patience while the road remained closed so the scene could be examined.
