Moment of silence for former councillor
A minute of silence has been held in honour of former Borough of Bournemouth Councillor Dennis Gritt.
Members of BCP Council paid tribute at a full council meeting on February 10, reflecting on his 17 years representing Kinson before finishing his time in office in 2015.
Councillor Patrick Canavan said Dennis served for 17 years and that what was unusual was that those years were not continuous. He added he was grateful for the opportunity to record appreciation for the service he gave to the borough of Bournemouth.
Councillor Jackie Edwards said she remembered how courteous and professional he was, describing him as modest, kind and a true gentleman who will be sorely missed.
Councillor Farquhar also recalled how Dennis once ran for Mayor of Bournemouth and, despite losing the vote, joked that he demanded a recount.
All members of the council stood for a minute of silence in his memory.
