Views are being sought on proposals to lower speed limits on key routes through Ferndown and West Parley.
A public consultation is running from today until Friday 20 February 2026, giving residents the chance to support, object or comment on plans to reduce speed limits on sections of New Road and Christchurch Road following requests from local residents, town councils and Dorset Council councillors.
One proposal would see the A347 New Road north of Parley Cross reduced from 40mph to 30mph, covering the stretch between Parley Cross and the A348 Ringwood Road, alongside minor junction changes at Dudsbury Avenue and Chander Close to improve pedestrian safety.
Crossing points along this section of New Road would also be improved, with the council aiming to carry out the work alongside planned carriageway maintenance to reduce disruption for drivers and nearby communities.
Further proposals include lowering the speed limit on the B3073 Christchurch Road from west of Barrack Road, through Parley Cross, to link with the existing 30mph limit near Dudsbury Golf Course.
A third section would introduce a 30mph limit on the A347 New Road south of Parley Cross, running from Ensbury Bridge up to the junction.
